Periodic Table Video Interactive

From hydrogen to ununoctium, Periodic Table Interactive links to short videos about each chemical element by Professor Martyn Poliakoff, internationally-renowned chemist. It also links to Wikipedia entries for each element. This gadget utilises the Periodic Table of Videos developed by Nottingham University.

Update - I have now added links to amazon.com, so, for a particular element you can view/purchase Amazon books on the subject.

U.S. Senator Search and Contact

This gadget is your brand new portal for accessing and influencing your U.S. Senator. Find out what your Senator has been doing lately, what they stand for, and who they stand with. Make them hear your views and your voice.

This gadget displays contact information on U.S. Senators and allows you to contact your Senator using Skype. Click on their web address to view their full itenary. Click on the US Flag to mute/unmute national anthem.

The 1915 recording of the Star-Spangled Banner is sung by Margaret Woodrow Wilson, daughter of Thomas Woodrow Wilson, twenty-eighth President of the United States of America.

I made the Youtube video, immediately below, to demonstate the functionality of U.S. Senator Search and Contact. Due to size constraints visibility is not that clear, but you can get a general idea of it's usage, and then you can try U.S. Senator Search and Contact for yourself at full-size.

The Borgen Project in 60 Seconds

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog! I have been experimenting with Google Desktop Gadgets as a mechanism to drive traffic to a website. According to Google Analytics, the number of unique users to my dummy site is now on average 4 per day, with a bounce rate of near 100% lol. I guess it hasn't really worked for me. If one creates a really compelling/popular gadget, that is the way forward.

It would be interesting to see figures which show the user base of GDG, along with statistics on user demographics. That way, I could better create Gadgets that users actually require.
