I have started another blog at http://rosieojo.wordpress.com

I am thinking about dedicating my new blog to my technological and entrepreneurial persuits.

Mega Monster Downloader

I am planning to implement a mega yt downloader gadget. Once implemented, in terms of gadgetry, it will be on par with what Hugh Hefner has done for ....."Bunnydom"....

Traumatised!!!

After the events of the last week, I am suffering from PTSD.

It's back to the technological philantropy to steady my nerves and save my sanity.

I'll work on a playlist for my YT Player!

Hikikomorihime, has said of my YT gadget

"I'm not downloading this because I'm needing something that plays one of my playlists. However, if you do add that functionality, I want you to know I'm watching for it! I'll be one of the first to download! "

...guess I better get to work! lol

Management Consultants!

A physician, a civil engineer, and a management consultant were arguing about what was the oldest profession in the world.

The physician remarked, "Well, in the Bible, it says that God created Eve from a rib taken out of Adam. This clearly required surgery, and so I can rightly claim that mine is the oldest profession in the world."

The civil engineer interrupted, and said, "But even earlier in the book of Genesis, it states that God created the order of the heavens and the earth from out of the chaos. This was the first and certainly the most spectacular application of civil engineering. Therefore, fair doctor, you are wrong: mine is the oldest profession in the world."

The management consultant leaned back in her chair, smiled, and then said confidently, "Ah, but who do you think created the chaos?"

How many management consultants does it take to change a light bulb?

  • We don't know. They never get past the feasibility study.
  • Three. One to change the bulb and two to write the standards and tell him what he did wrong.
  • Five. One to change the bulb and four to contemplate how Tom Peters would have done it.
  • Five. One to change the bulb and four to tell him how much better they could have done it.
  • What's your budget?

The Verdict

So, last year I made the 10 gadgets you see below. Daily unique views are now 60 per day (on average). I have made 1 dollar 42 cents from advertising revenue he he. I never made it into the Gadgets Hall of Fame.... Can't win 'em all I guess!!!

I needed to work harder on Internet marketing strategies.....

So, anyway moving on.... this year I am devoting my attention to creating a killer iPhone App. The plan is to retire off the proceeds!!!!

From hydrogen to ununoctium, Periodic Table Interactive links to short videos about each chemical element by Professor Martyn Poliakoff, internationally-renowned chemist. It also links to Wikipedia entries for each element. This gadget utilises the Periodic Table of Videos developed by Nottingham University.

Update - I have now added links to amazon.com, so, for a particular element you can view/purchase Amazon books on the subject.

U.S. Senator Search and Contact

This gadget is your brand new portal for accessing and influencing your U.S. Senator. Find out what your Senator has been doing lately, what they stand for, and who they stand with. Make them hear your views and your voice.

This gadget displays contact information on U.S. Senators and allows you to contact your Senator using Skype. Click on their web address to view their full itenary. Click on the US Flag to mute/unmute national anthem.

The 1915 recording of the Star-Spangled Banner is sung by Margaret Woodrow Wilson, daughter of Thomas Woodrow Wilson, twenty-eighth President of the United States of America.

I made the Youtube video, immediately below, to demonstate the functionality of U.S. Senator Search and Contact. Due to size constraints visibility is not that clear, but you can get a general idea of it's usage, and then you can try U.S. Senator Search and Contact for yourself at full-size.

The Borgen Project in 60 Seconds

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog! I have been experimenting with Google Desktop Gadgets as a mechanism to drive traffic to a website. According to Google Analytics, the number of unique users to my dummy site is now on average 4 per day, with a bounce rate of near 100% lol. I guess it hasn't really worked for me. If one creates a really compelling/popular gadget, that is the way forward.

It would be interesting to see figures which show the user base of GDG, along with statistics on user demographics. That way, I could better create Gadgets that users actually require.
